OCCUPATIONAL THERAPY

Occupational Therapy Services provide treatment for acute or chronic conditions of hand and the upper extremity(shoulder, elbow, forearm, wrist, and hand). Patients who have arthritis, fractures, tendon and peripheral injuries, and repetitive motion disorder are treated for the following services including:

• Restoration of sensory functions
• Restoration of physical mobility
• Range of Motion
• Re education of basic living skills
• Gait training
• Range of motion training

Occupational Therapist  evaluates  and identifies deficits of patients in the ability to perform self-care, home management, and outside activities, including work, that result from an upper extremity injury or condition. 

Patients with disability caused by stroke need some form of rehabilitation for recovery, and both the patient and his/ her family should be involved in the recovery. Occupational Therapist assesses the patients’ psycho-social and emotional needs to modify the treatment approach and stimulate the best outcome possible.

People with Dementia are cognitively impaired due to damage to the brain. The onset is gradual, and any improvement from the disease extends over several years  making the patient completely dependent on others. Occupational therapist can educate those in the early stages of the disease, family members, and/ or concerned friends, about the dementia and its functional implications.
